Home cleaning tips
Spring Cleaning with ease!
How I clean a four bedroom house in 2 hours or
less.
Leave mats in front of doorways to avoid dragging in the
outside dirt.
Clean your home once a week the same day weekly. This will
allow your family to know they need to help you with picking up
their items from their living areas and that rules apply to help
you perform this needed task.
You will need a bucket with handle to fill up with a roll of
paper towels, a floor cleaning product, a can of lemon oil, a
soft dust cloth, a scrubbing sponge, a fuzzy duster with handle
and a can of comet, a spray bottle of diluted beach, a bottle of
soap scum remover and a bottle of Windex. Vacuum and mop and
bucket. Make sure your diluted bleach container is tightly
closed to avoid spillage.
Always start from the top to clean - this way you can vacuum
up particles and dust when ending you cleaning tasks. Dust off
baseboards before vacuuming.
Begin cleaning task:
Start with the kitchen first to avoid spending germs. Windex
down your outside stove first. Soak stove top racks if needed.
Wipe to a sparkle. Spray your toaster etc with Windex and wipe
to shine. Next wash counter tops with Windex or diluted beach.
(Make sure your counter top is bleach safe) Dust down top of
refrigerator and blinds and windowsills. Next spray down your
sink area with soap scum remover rinse and apply comet and scrub
if needed. Next polish your kitchen table and chairs and
refrigerator. (Be careful of slipping on excess polish on floor
area) Empty garbage pail. Finish off by vacuuming your kitchen
floor and mopping it.
Safety tip: Leave the garbage
pail in front of doorway to avoid slipping on wet floor.
Next clean bathroom. Bathrooms take time and energy so you
want to do this next while you still have energy left. Spray
down sink and tub with soap scum remover. I recommend vacuuming
first to avoid a wet mess later on. Windex your glass areas and
dry with paper towels. Rinse off sink and tub. Use comet if
needed for heavy soap buildup. Re spray with soap scum remover
and rinse. Pour a little beach in toilet to remove stains. Use
brush scrub and flush toilet. Spray down seat and toilet area
including the base with Windex wipe clean with paper towels.
Empty the garbage pail. Mop floor with damp mop. Start by
mopping the area in front of you and mop backwards so you do not
leave shoe marks or slip on the wet floor. Safety tip: Leave the
garbage pail in front of doorway to avoid slipping on wet
floor.
Bedrooms and Living Rooms: Inform your family that once a
week you will be doing this cleaning task and ask that they
remove unnecessary items from floors and dressers. If they do
not pick up their items do not clean their bedrooms. Stick to
your rules! They will get the message real soon when their
sleeping area does not look as nice as yours.
First start by Windexing the mirrors on dressers and walls.
Next polish furniture (I advise using lemon oil) Next vacuum
under beds and behind door and finish the complete area. Run
vacuum over living room furniture as well.
Take a break…For nice final results you may
like to clean your front door and back door and light switches
once a month to impress your visitors. Your can also tell them
you hired a cleaning service :)
I also advise spot cleaning
when I see dirt and stains by vacuum and damp rag.
Tips:
Fuzzy duster can be machine washed to remove dust. Wool
dusted are great since dust clings to them like a magnet.
Remove crayon marks from painted walls by scrubbing with
toothpaste or an ammonia-soaked cloth. Rinse and dry.
Toothpaste will remove small scratches from glass.
White Toothpaste is also good to patch up small holes in
plaster.
Clean windows on cloudy days to avoid streaks.
Spray broom or dust mop with you favorite furniture polish
and the dust and dirt will be easier to collect when you sweep.
Use mold remover in bathroom when need to avoid mold
allergy. You might want to spot check your cellar for mold as
well. Mold is very bad for health.
